KEBA SM250/A is a 4-channel SSI encoder interface module of KEBA KeConnect and Kemro K2 series, widely used on ENGEL injection molding machines and die-casting automation equipment. It is specially designed for SSI absolute position encoders, capturing high-precision position feedback of mold stroke, injection axis and ejector stroke, which is the core signal acquisition unit for precise positioning and closed-loop adjustment of hydraulic axes. It supports up to four independent position measuring systems and comes with built-in sensor fault detection function to monitor encoder working state continuously.

This module communicates with the master CPU via proprietary Kemro K-Bus backplane. It receives serial position data from SSI encoders, converts the serial bit stream into digital position values and transmits them to the controller for positioning calculation. Each channel can supply power for the connected encoder sensor, and the circuit is equipped with strong anti-interference performance to resist noise from hydraulic pumps and solenoid coils. LED indicators on the front panel show data transmission status and sensor error alarms, allowing maintenance technicians to quickly check encoder communication status and locate wiring or hardware faults.

Engineers can configure data bit length, clock rate and signal mapping in KEBA engineering software to adapt to different SSI encoder models. Built-in sensor diagnosis circuit monitors cable breakage, power loss and communication frame error. If abnormal condition is detected, alarm signal will be sent to the HMI and safety interlock can be triggered to prevent mold collision caused by wrong position reading.
