TRICONEX 3481 is a dual-port TMR serial communication module designed for Triconex Tricon safety instrumented systems (SIS). This TMR safety system module adopts triple modular redundancy architecture, responsible for bidirectional serial data exchange between Tricon TMR controller and external devices such as DCS, SCADA, HMI and field intelligent instruments. The Tricon serial communication module is equipped with two independent serial ports, each can be configured as RS232, RS422 or RS485, supporting Modbus RTU slave protocol and peer-to-peer communication between multiple Tricon systems. The baud rate is user-selectable from 1200 up to 115200 bps. Each serial channel has electrical isolation protection to suppress ground loop and electromagnetic interference from field wiring. The module continuously performs internal hardware and channel communication diagnostics, and sends fault alarm information to the Tricon engineering workstation in real time. It supports hot swap operation, maintenance personnel can replace the faulty module online without shutting down the whole safety system. Front panel LED indicators display module health status and serial port transmit / receive activity for fast on-site troubleshooting. It adopts 2-out-of-3 voting logic to eliminate single point of failure and fully meets SIL3 safety integrity level requirements. It can be installed in standard Tricon rack and compatible with mainstream Tricon firmware versions. Widely applied in oil & gas, petrochemical, chemical and power industries, this TRICONEX 3481 communication module provides stable serial data transmission for ESD emergency shutdown, fire and gas detection safety control systems.
