TRICONEX 3005 also known as MP3005 is a high-performance main processor module built with triple modular redundancy (TMR) architecture for Triconex Tricon safety instrumented systems (SIS), applicable for Tricon system version V9.6 and above. This TMR safety controller module serves as the core computing unit of the Tricon rack, responsible for executing user safety logic programs, collecting and processing all I/O signal data, and performing 2-out-of-3 voting operations. The Tricon main processor module adopts Motorola MPC860 32-bit 50MHz processor, equipped with 16MB DRAM, 32KB battery-backed SRAM and 6MB Flash PROM. It uses TriBus 25Mbps high-speed backplane communication with 32-bit CRC protection. Three modules are required to form a complete TMR redundant group. If one processor fails, the remaining two units can automatically undertake full load to maintain uninterrupted operation of the safety system. It supports RS232 diagnostic interface and cooperates with communication modules to transmit real-time safety variables, alarm status and SOE sequence of events data to DCS and HMI. It continuously monitors processor operation, memory and internal hardware health, and sends fault signals to Tricon engineering workstation once abnormality is detected. The module supports hot swap operation, maintenance personnel can replace the faulty processor online without shutting down the whole safety rack. Front panel LED indicators display module PASS, FAULT and synchronization status for fast on-site inspection and troubleshooting. It is installed in dedicated processor slot of standard Tricon rack and compatible with all Tricon series I/O modules.
