The BENTLY NEVADA 3500/20 rack interface module, also known as RIM, is a mandatory full-height core module for the Bently Nevada 3500 machinery protection rack system. This data gateway module must be installed in slot 1 next to the power supply in the 3500 rack, serving as the primary bridge between all internal monitor modules and external communication processors. The RIM manages rack configuration downloading, real-time measurement data collection, alarm status acquisition and event log storage through the rack backplane. It is equipped with a front panel RS232 configuration port and RS422 data interface, supporting connection with TDXnet, TDIX and DDIX communication processors to export vibration, shaft position and temperature data. It is important to note that this rack interface module is not part of the critical safety monitoring path. Even if the RIM fails, the alarm and protection functions of other monitor modules will keep working normally, which greatly improves the reliability of the machinery protection system. It supports TMR triple modular redundant version for high-reliability applications, which can realize channel comparison and fault voting. Front panel LED indicators display module OK status, communication activity, trip multiply and valid rack configuration. A built-in OK relay outputs rack overall fault signal for remote alarm. The module supports hot swapping without interrupting machinery protection loops. It is widely used in steam turbines, centrifugal compressors, generators and pumps in petrochemical, power generation and metallurgy industries, realizing system configuration and data export of rotating machinery TSI protection system.
