The BENTLY NEVADA 3500/20 125744-02 rack interface module (RIM) is the mandatory main communication management board for the Bently Nevada 3500 machinery protection rack system. This rack communication manager must be installed in slot 1 of the rack next to the power supply, and every 3500 rack needs one RIM module. It acts as the central coordinator for all monitor modules on the backplane bus, collecting vibration, temperature, speed, position measurement data and alarm events from all I/O and monitor modules. The 3500/20 RIM board supports rack configuration download, system event logging and bidirectional communication with external communication processors. It is equipped with RS232 serial port for local rack setup and diagnostics. Importantly, this module is outside the safety protection path, so the machinery protection trip function will keep working even if the RIM communication fails. Front panel LED indicators display rack OK status, communication activity and fault state. Built-in continuous self-diagnosis function detects rack backplane communication errors and module hardware faults. For TMR triple redundant protection configuration, the TMR version of 3500/20 can perform channel comparison judgment to monitor consistency of redundant measurement channels.
