Product Details

The ProSoft WRC-CANR-DF is a fiber-optic CAN bus extender, supplied in pairs to extend CAN-based industrial networks over optical fiber and provide galvanic isolation between copper CAN segments. It supports CAN 2.0A and CAN 2.0B protocols, compatible with DeviceNet, J1939, SDS and other standard CAN bus systems. This extender works transparently for all master and slave devices on the CAN network, no program modification is required for existing controllers and field instruments. It supports automatic baud rate detection for DeviceNet at 125k, 250k and 500k baud, and allows manual baud setting from 9.6k up to 1Mbps for J1939 and general CAN applications. It uses multi-mode fiber with ST fiber connectors, reaching up to 2200 meters transmission distance, effectively breaking the distance limitation of copper CAN cables. The fiber link eliminates ground loop interference and heavy electromagnetic noise, which is ideal for sites with high voltage, frequency converter and welding equipment. It has built-in termination resistor on CAN interface, low latency less than 900µs, and supports star, tree and other flexible network topologies besides standard trunk line topology. The unit is powered directly from the CAN bus, typical power consumption is 1.5W at 24VDC. LED indicators show CAN network status and fiber link status, helping technicians quickly locate fiber break, baud mismatch and CAN bus error faults. The data forwarding function runs independently, it will not affect the normal communication and arbitration logic of the original CAN bus devices. This model is discontinued and only available as spare parts for legacy DeviceNet and J1939 network renovation projects.

This extender adopts sealed NEMA 4X enclosure, equipped with mini CAN connector and ST fiber port. It consumes 60mA typical current at 25VDC from CAN bus power. LED indicators display module status, local CAN segment and remote fiber link status for on-site troubleshooting. The operating temperature range is -40°C to 75°C, storage temperature ranges from -40°C to 85°C, relative humidity 5% to 95% non-condensing. It meets industrial EMC standards for surge, electrostatic and burst interference protection. It supports DIP switch configuration for baud rate setting and configuration backup.

This CAN fiber optic extender is widely used in heavy truck J1939 test benches, automotive production lines, DeviceNet factory automation, water treatment and mining CAN bus network projects. It extends CAN communication distance and isolates electrical interference through optical fiber, avoiding the risk of lightning surge and ground potential difference damaging CAN equipment. As a discontinued network spare part, the WRC-CANR-DF maintains stable transparent CAN message transmission, protects original CAN bus devices and wiring, and reduces the renovation cost of long-distance industrial CAN network integration.
