The ProSoft PLX51-PBM is a DIN-rail mounted multi-functional protocol gateway that supports PROFIBUS DP working as master or slave, to realize bidirectional cyclic and acyclic data exchange with EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP or Modbus serial networks. It can be configured as a PROFIBUS DP master to collect data from PROFIBUS drives, remote IO modules, instruments and field devices; when set as slave mode, it can simulate up to 10 independent PROFIBUS slave nodes to adapt to different network topology transformation requirements. The gateway supports DPV0 cyclic data exchange and DPV1 acyclic parameter access and alarm functions, and the PROFIBUS baud rate covers 9600bps up to 12Mbps to match various legacy PROFIBUS field devices. It is equipped with dual Ethernet ports, supporting DLR Device Level Ring redundant topology or working as an embedded Ethernet switch for flexible wiring layout. The maximum cyclic I/O data reaches 1536 bytes input and 1536 bytes output, and it can establish up to 4 EtherNet/IP connections with Logix controllers. For Rockwell EtherNet/IP system, the configuration software automatically generates dynamic AOI add-on instructions and UDT data types, which greatly reduces PLC programming workload and shortens commissioning cycle. For Modbus applications, PROFIBUS data can be automatically mapped to Modbus registers for reading and writing by Modbus master devices. It integrates built-in PROFIBUS device scanning and packet capture tools, which helps engineers quickly locate communication faults and analyze bus data without extra debugging equipment. An SD card slot is reserved for configuration backup and fast recovery during hardware replacement, minimizing on-site downtime. The gateway runs independently of the PLC scan cycle, so protocol conversion and data forwarding will not occupy controller resources or interfere with the original control logic. It provides comprehensive diagnostic tags for bus status, slave health, communication timeout and fault codes, which can be displayed on HMI or SCADA platforms for real-time monitoring. A conformal coated version is optional for humid, dusty and corrosive industrial environments. This gateway adopts compact IP20 plastic housing for standard DIN rail installation. It is fitted with two 10/100Mbps shielded RJ45 Ethernet ports and one PROFIBUS DP terminal port, accepts 10VDC to 36VDC wide-range DC power supply with 24VDC nominal input, typical power consumption is 2.04W at 24V. LED indicators display power status, module fault, Ethernet link and PROFIBUS bus activity for convenient on-site inspection. The operating temperature range is -20°C to 70°C, storage temperature ranges from -40°C to 80°C, relative humidity 5% to 95% non-condensing. It complies with IEC industrial shock, vibration and EMC standards, and has obtained UL/cUL Class 1 Div 2 and CE certifications. It supports remote configuration, online firmware upgrade and configuration backup for long-term field maintenance.
