Product Details
The ProSoft PLX82-MNET-61850 is a DIN-rail mounted dual-isolated Ethernet protocol gateway designed for bidirectional data exchange between Modbus TCP PLC or PAC systems and IEC 61850 intelligent electronic devices used in power substations. It acts as an IEC 61850 client to collect measurement values, protection alarms, status signals and control data from protection relays, circuit breakers, power quality meters and voltage regulators, while serving as Modbus TCP server or client to exchange data with Schneider Quantum, M340 and other Modbus-based controllers. The two galvanically separated 10/100Mbps Ethernet ports isolate the Modbus TCP control subnet and IEC 61850 substation subnet, avoiding IP conflicts and improving network security for power automation systems. The gateway supports IEC 61850 Edition 2, including core ACSI services, buffered and unbuffered report control blocks, GOOSE messaging and direct or SBO control functions. It can directly import ICD and CID SCL files through ProSoft 61850 Configuration Manager, automatically generating variable files and function blocks for Unity Pro programming environment, which greatly reduces manual mapping work and shortens substation engineering cycle. It supports up to 10 Modbus TCP client connections and a maximum of 2000 Modbus commands, and can process thousands of IEC 61850 data attributes for multi-IED integration. NTP time synchronization is supported to align timestamps for event sequence recording and fault disturbance analysis, which is essential for power grid troubleshooting and audit compliance. Users can set polling intervals, report trigger rules and fail-safe response logic inside the configuration software. An optional SD card slot supports configuration backup and fast restoration when hardware is replaced, minimizing outage time during maintenance. The gateway runs independently of the host PLC scan cycle, so IED polling, GOOSE subscription and Modbus register mapping will not consume controller resources or affect the original control logic. It provides comprehensive diagnostic tags for IED connection status, report reception, GOOSE heartbeat, communication timeout and fault codes, which can be monitored on HMI, SCADA or historian platforms for rapid fault location. A conformal coated version is optional for humid, dusty and corrosive outdoor substation environments. This model is widely deployed in utility substation automation, solar and wind farm grid connection, industrial power distribution monitoring and energy management system upgrade projects.
This gateway adopts rugged extruded aluminum housing for standard DIN rail installation. It is equipped with two 10/100Mbps shielded RJ45 Ethernet ports with electrical isolation, accepts 10VDC to 36VDC wide-range DC power supply with 24VDC nominal input, maximum current consumption is 200mA at 24VDC. LED indicators display power status, module fault, Modbus TCP link and IEC 61850 communication activity for convenient on-site inspection. The operating temperature range is 0°C to 70°C, storage temperature ranges from -40°C to 85°C, relative humidity 5% to 95% non-condensing. It complies with IEC industrial shock, vibration and EMC standards for power substation interference, and has obtained UL, CE and ATEX certifications. It supports remote configuration, online firmware upgrade and configuration backup for long-term field maintenance.
This Modbus TCP to IEC 61850 substation gateway is widely applied in power substation automation, renewable energy grid interconnection, factory power distribution monitoring and backup power control projects. It connects IEC 61850 protection IEDs to Modbus TCP control systems, realizing real-time acquisition of electrical measurement data, protection alarm signals and remote control commands. As a reliable power protocol conversion spare part, the PLX82-MNET-61850 retains original substation wiring and IED devices and effectively reduces the renovation cost of multi-standard power automation system integration.
