The ProSoft PTQ-104S is an in-chassis ProTalk communication module designed for Schneider Modicon Quantum PLC rack, working as an IEC 60870-5-104 server to provide data services for remote IEC 104 client SCADA master stations. It is equipped with one 10/100Mbps Ethernet port for TCP/IP IEC 104 communication and a dedicated RS232 debug port for configuration and online diagnostic checking. The module supports multiple concurrent client connections, and accepts read and write commands from upper SCADA host systems. It supports a full set of standard IEC 104 ASDU data types, including single-point status, double-point status, analog measured values, integrated totals, time-stamped SOE events and remote control commands, and supports spontaneous transmission and cyclic data upload, with dead-band function for analog data to reduce unnecessary network traffic. It contains 4000 words of internal user register space for data mapping, and supports Unity Hot-Standby redundant configuration to meet high availability requirements of power industry. Users define point databases, station parameters and communication rules via ProSoft Configuration Builder software, and map the data between Quantum PLC registers and IEC 104 server points through backplane data exchange. It is compatible with Unity Pro, Concept and ProWORX programming software, and provides complete communication counters, error logs and status flags for fault location. The module’s network communication and data exchange run asynchronously, independent of the PLC scan cycle, so it will not consume controller scan time or interfere with the original control logic. This module is discontinued and only supplied as spare parts for legacy power SCADA and water utility automation systems.

This module fits standard Schneider Quantum single slot, draws 800mA at 5VDC from backplane. It supports hot-swappable operation for on-site replacement without shutting down the whole rack. LED indicators display power status, backplane communication, Ethernet link status and fault alarms for fast field diagnosis. The operating temperature range is 0°C to 60°C, storage temperature ranges from -40°C to 85°C, with relative humidity 5% to 95% non-condensing. It meets industrial EMC standards for surge, electrostatic and burst interference, and has Class I Division 2 hazardous location certification. It supports configuration backup and firmware upgrade for long-term site maintenance.

This IEC 60870-5-104 server module is widely used in power distribution substation automation, hydropower plant monitoring, water treatment SCADA and renewable energy station control projects. It enables the Schneider Quantum PLC to act as an IEC 104 server, uploading on-site measurement and status data to the central SCADA system and receiving remote control commands, without deploying extra external protocol gateways. As a discontinued legacy communication spare part, the PTQ-104S maintains stable Ethernet data transmission, protects original control system and network wiring, and reduces the renovation cost of power automation system integration.
