The ProSoft PTQ-101M is an in-chassis ProTalk communication module developed for Schneider Quantum and Unity PLC rack, functioning as an IEC 60870-5-101 master device to collect data from IEC 101 slave terminals widely used in power utility systems. It is equipped with two independent serial ports, each configurable via jumper for RS232, RS422 or RS485 interface, supporting balanced and unbalanced link modes, adjustable baud rate from 110 to 38400 bps, parity and stop bit settings to match different remote terminal units, protection relays and power meters. The module supports standard IEC 60870-5-101 ASDU types, including analog measurements, binary status, counter values, time-stamped SOE events and remote control commands, and it adopts report-by-exception mechanism to reduce unnecessary data transmission. Users can configure point lists, station addresses and polling schedules through dedicated configuration software, then map IEC 101 data to Quantum PLC register areas via the backplane. It works with Concept, Unity Pro and ProWORX programming software, and provides diagnostic counters and status flags for communication fault analysis. The module runs independently from the PLC scan cycle, so the serial polling and event processing will not occupy the controller scan time or interfere with the original control logic. This module is discontinued and only supplied as spare parts for legacy power automation and water treatment SCADA systems.

This module fits standard Schneider Quantum single slot, draws 800mA at 5VDC from backplane. It supports hot-swappable operation for convenient on-site replacement without shutting down the whole rack. LED indicators show power status, backplane communication, serial port transmit/receive activity and fault alarm for fast field troubleshooting. The operating temperature range is 0°C to 60°C, storage temperature ranges from -40°C to 85°C, with relative humidity 5% to 95% non-condensing. It complies with industrial EMC standards for surge, electrostatic and burst interference, and it holds Class I Division 2 hazardous location certification. It supports configuration backup and firmware upgrade for long-term maintenance.
