The ProSoft PS56-LON-001 is an in-rack SlotServer communication module designed for Rockwell 1756 ControlLogix chassis, which realizes bidirectional data exchange between ControlLogix controller and LonWorks building automation network. It acts as a LonWorks interface, supporting standard SNVT network variable types and XIF file configuration, and can connect with HVAC controllers, chillers, ventilation units, lighting control modules and other LonWorks field devices widely used in building management systems. The module uses implicit backplane communication to exchange data with ControlLogix processor, and users can configure data mapping between LonWorks network variables and ControlLogix tags through configuration files. It supports the LonWorks open profile, and the matching ACD example files are provided for Studio 5000 or RSLogix 5000 to reduce programming workload. It supports flexible polling setup and real-time status feedback for each LonWorks node, and provides diagnostic information for network fault troubleshooting. The module works independently of the PLC control logic, so LonWorks data collection and transmission will not occupy the controller scan cycle or interfere with original control programs. This module is discontinued and only supplied as spare parts for legacy building automation retrofit projects.

This module fits standard 1756 ControlLogix single slot, consumes 800mA at 5VDC from backplane. It supports hot-swappable operation for on-site replacement without shutting down the whole rack. LED indicators display power status, backplane communication, LonWorks network activity and fault alarms for fast on-site diagnosis. The operating temperature range is 0°C to 60°C, storage temperature ranges from -40°C to 85°C, with relative humidity 5% to 95% non-condensing. It meets industrial shock and vibration standards and has reliable EMC protection against surge and electrostatic interference. It supports configuration backup and firmware upgrade for long-term maintenance.

This ControlLogix LonWorks SlotServer module is widely used in commercial building automation, central air conditioning control, intelligent lighting, clean room monitoring and old building control system renovation projects. It integrates LonWorks field bus devices into Rockwell ControlLogix control platform without extra external gateways, realizing unified monitoring and scheduling of building facilities.
