The ProSoft PLX81-EIP-61850 is a single Ethernet port DIN-rail mounted protocol gateway designed for power substation automation, which realizes bidirectional data conversion between EtherNet/IP and IEC 61850 MMS networks. It acts as an EtherNet/IP server supporting Class 1 implicit I/O connections and Class 3 explicit messaging services, and works as an IEC 61850 client to collect data from intelligent electronic devices including protection relays, power meters, circuit breakers and substation controllers. This single-port version requires both EtherNet/IP and IEC 61850 devices to operate on the same subnet, and it can connect up to 20 IED nodes on the IEC 61850 side. It supports BRCB and URCB report control blocks, GOOSE message processing, SBO and direct control functions, fully complying with IEC 61850-8-1 MMS standard. The configuration software imports SCL IED description files to parse complex substation data models, and automatically generates add-on instructions for Studio 5000 or RSLogix 5000, so users can map substation data directly into ControlLogix and CompactLogix tags without heavy custom programming. It supports NTP time synchronization to keep time consistency among substation devices, which is critical for fault recording and event sequence analysis. An SD card slot is available for storing configuration files, allowing fast configuration restoration when replacing the gateway on site to reduce outage duration. The ProSoft Discovery Service tool helps technicians locate the gateway and adjust IP parameters conveniently. All protocol conversion and data mapping tasks run independently, so the substation data exchange will not occupy the controller scan cycle or interfere with the original control logic. Conformal coating version is optional for dusty, humid and corrosive power station environments. This model is discontinued, and its replacement is PLX82-EIP-61850 dual-port gateway.

This gateway accepts DC power supply ranging from 18VDC to 36VDC, maximum 500mA at 24VDC. It adopts standard DIN rail mounting and is equipped with LED indicators for power, fault, configuration status and network communication activity for fast on-site diagnosis. The operating temperature range is -25°C to 70°C, storage temperature ranges from -40°C to 85°C, relative humidity 5% to 95% non-condensing. It meets IEC industrial shock and vibration standards and has reliable EMC protection against surge and electrostatic interference for power industry applications. It supports firmware upgrade and configuration backup for long-term substation maintenance.

This EtherNet/IP to IEC 61850 gateway is widely used in power substation automation, power distribution monitoring, renewable energy station control and power system renovation projects.
