The ProSoft PLX32-MBTCP-PND is a standalone DIN-rail mounted protocol gateway with two galvanically isolated Ethernet ports, designed for bidirectional real-time data exchange between Modbus TCP devices and PROFINET IO controllers. The dual independent Ethernet ports separate Modbus TCP network and PROFINET network into different subnets, so users do not need to modify the IP address of existing field devices, which improves network isolation and cybersecurity. It operates as a PROFINET Class A IO device on the PROFINET side, and supports multiple simultaneous Modbus TCP client and server connections on the Modbus TCP side, which can connect power meters, flow transmitters, variable frequency drives and third-party Modbus TCP controllers to Siemens PROFINET PLC systems. The gateway supports up to 10 Modbus TCP client connections and 5 Modbus TCP server connections, with a maximum of 160 configurable polling commands. Each polling task can be independently enabled or disabled, and it supports write-only-on-data-change mode to reduce unnecessary network traffic. It supports standard Modbus function codes and flexible floating-point byte swapping formats to match different device data structures. The PROFINET channel supports real-time RT cyclic communication with 1440 bytes input and 1440 bytes output data capacity, and it can use up to 10000 16-bit registers for large-volume data mapping. It is equipped with an SD card slot for configuration backup and fast recovery when replacing the hardware, which greatly shortens on-site downtime. Users complete data mapping, polling schedule and alarm configuration through ProSoft Configuration Builder software. The gateway runs independently of the PLC scan cycle, so protocol conversion and data forwarding will not occupy controller resources or interfere with the original control logic. It provides comprehensive diagnostic tags for connection status, polling counters, timeout and fault codes, which can be read by the PROFINET controller and displayed on HMI or SCADA for fast troubleshooting. A conformal coated version is optional for humid, dusty and corrosive industrial environments. This gateway adopts rugged metal housing for DIN rail installation. It has two galvanically isolated 10/100Mbps shielded RJ45 Ethernet ports, and accepts 10VDC to 36VDC wide-range DC power supply with 24VDC nominal input. LED indicators display power status, module fault, Ethernet link, Modbus TCP communication and PROFINET connection status for convenient on-site inspection. The operating temperature range is -25°C to 70°C, storage temperature ranges from -40°C to 80°C, relative humidity 5% to 95% non-condensing. It complies with IEC industrial shock, vibration and EMC standards, and has obtained PROFINET v2 Class A certification. It supports remote configuration, online firmware upgrade and configuration backup for long-term field maintenance.
