The ProSoft PLX31-MBTCP-SIE is a standalone DIN-rail mounted protocol gateway designed for bidirectional data exchange between Modbus TCP devices and Siemens S7 Ethernet controllers. It communicates with S7-1200, S7-1500, S7-300 and S7-400 PLCs via S7 protocol, and works as Modbus TCP client or server to connect transmitters, power meters, frequency converters and other Modbus TCP field instruments. The gateway supports up to 16 S7 connections and multiple Modbus TCP sessions, users can configure read and write commands for S7 data blocks, input, output, memory bits and marker areas. It supports standard Modbus function codes and flexible data byte swapping, floating-point conversion to match different device data formats. All data mapping, polling intervals and exception handling parameters are set in ProSoft Configuration Builder software. An SD card slot is available for saving configuration files, supporting fast recovery after hardware replacement to minimize on-site downtime. The gateway runs independently of the PLC scan cycle, so protocol conversion and data forwarding will not occupy controller resources or disrupt the original control logic. It provides complete diagnostic tags for connection status, message counters, timeout errors and fault flags, which can be monitored on HMI and SCADA systems for quick fault diagnosis. Conformal coated version is optional for dusty, humid and corrosive industrial environments. This gateway adopts rugged metal housing for DIN rail installation. It is equipped with one galvanically isolated 10/100Mbps shielded RJ45 Ethernet port, accepts 10VDC to 36VDC wide-range DC power supply with 24VDC nominal input. LED indicators display power status, module fault, Ethernet link, Modbus and S7 communication activity for convenient on-site inspection. The operating temperature range is -25°C to 70°C, storage temperature ranges from -40°C to 80°C, relative humidity 5% to 95% non-condensing. It meets IEC industrial shock, vibration and EMC standards for surge and electrostatic interference, and has passed relevant industrial certifications. It supports remote configuration, online firmware upgrade and configuration backup for long-term field maintenance.
