The ProSoft PLX31-MBTCP-PND is an independent DIN-rail mounted protocol gateway that realizes bidirectional cyclic and acyclic data exchange between Modbus TCP devices and PROFINET IO controllers. It operates as a PROFINET Class A IO device on the PROFINET side, and supports multiple Modbus TCP client and server connections on the Modbus TCP network, which can connect Modbus TCP instruments, power meters, flow transmitters and third-party Modbus TCP controllers to Siemens PROFINET PLC systems. This gateway supports up to 10 Modbus TCP client connections and 5 Modbus TCP server connections, with a maximum of 160 configurable Modbus polling commands. It supports standard Modbus function codes, and each polling task can be independently enabled or disabled, and it supports write-only-on-data-change mode to reduce network traffic. The PROFINET channel supports real-time cyclic RT communication, with 1440 bytes input and 1440 bytes output data capacity, meeting the data transmission needs of most factory and process automation. It is equipped with an SD card slot for configuration backup and fast recovery when replacing the hardware, which can greatly shorten on-site downtime. Users complete data mapping, polling schedule and alarm configuration through ProSoft Configuration Builder software. The gateway runs independently of the PLC scan cycle, so protocol conversion and data forwarding will not occupy controller resources or interfere with the original control logic. It provides rich diagnostic tags for connection status, polling counters, timeout and fault codes, which can be read by the PROFINET controller and displayed on HMI or SCADA for fast troubleshooting. A conformal coated version is optional for humid, dusty and corrosive industrial environments. This gateway adopts rugged metal housing for DIN rail installation. It has one galvanically isolated 10/100Mbps shielded RJ45 Ethernet port, and accepts 10VDC to 36VDC wide-range DC power supply with 24VDC nominal input. LED indicators display power status, module fault, Ethernet link, Modbus communication and PROFINET connection status for convenient on-site inspection. The operating temperature range is -25°C to 70°C, storage temperature ranges from -40°C to 80°C, relative humidity 5% to 95% non-condensing. It complies with IEC industrial shock, vibration and EMC standards, and has passed PROFINET Class A certification. It supports remote configuration, online firmware upgrade and configuration backup for long-term field maintenance.
