The ProSoft PLX31-EIP-MBS4 is a standalone DIN-rail mounted multi-port protocol gateway that delivers bidirectional data conversion between EtherNet/IP network and Modbus serial RTU or ASCII devices. Compared with single-port gateway models, this unit is equipped with four independent isolated serial ports, which can greatly expand the access capacity of Modbus field instruments and reduce the total quantity of gateways required for large distributed automation systems. It works as an EtherNet/IP adapter and supports Class 1 implicit I/O connections and Class 3 explicit messaging, which can connect seamlessly with Rockwell ControlLogix, CompactLogix and other mainstream EtherNet/IP controllers. The built-in EDS add-on profile can be imported directly into Studio 5000 for convenient configuration, which cuts down commissioning time and avoids heavy PLC programming work. Each serial port supports software-selectable RS232, RS422 and RS485 interfaces, and every port can be independently set as Modbus master or slave. It supports standard Modbus function codes and configurable floating-point byte order parsing compatible with Enron and Daniel formats to adapt to different third-party Modbus transmitters, meters and remote units. The gateway carries an SD card slot for storing configuration files, users can quickly migrate and restore configuration data to a replacement unit during field maintenance to shorten system downtime. The ProSoft Discovery Service tool helps technicians locate the gateway and modify IP settings without matching the same subnet. The protocol conversion and data mapping tasks run independently, so the data exchange process will not occupy the controller scan cycle or interfere with the original control logic. Conformal coating version is optional for dusty, humid, corrosive and harsh industrial environments.

This gateway supports wide-range DC power supply from 10VDC to 36VDC, rated current 300mA at 24VDC, maximum 610mA. It adopts standard DIN rail installation and is fitted with multiple LED indicators including power, error, configuration status, network status and serial TX/RX activity for fast on-site troubleshooting. The operating temperature range is -25°C to 70°C, storage temperature ranges from -40°C to 80°C, with relative humidity 5% to 95% non-condensing. It complies with IEC standards for industrial shock and vibration, and has reliable EMC protection against surge and electrostatic interference. It supports firmware upgrade and configuration backup for long-term site maintenance.
