The ProSoft PLX31-EIP-MBS is a standalone DIN-rail mounted protocol gateway that provides bidirectional data conversion between EtherNet/IP industrial Ethernet network and Modbus serial RTU or ASCII devices. It acts as an EtherNet/IP adapter supporting Class 1 implicit I/O connections and Class 3 explicit message communications, which can seamlessly connect Rockwell ControlLogix, CompactLogix and other EtherNet/IP controllers to various Modbus serial field instruments including power meters, pressure transmitters, flow meters, temperature controllers and remote RTU units. The gateway comes with built-in EDS add-on profile, so users can directly import it into Studio 5000 for configuration, which greatly cuts commissioning work and avoids complicated programming on the PLC side. It is equipped with one 10/100Mbps auto-negotiation Ethernet port and one isolated serial port supporting RS232, RS422 and RS485, and the serial port can be configured as Modbus master or slave flexibly. It supports standard Modbus function codes and configurable floating-point byte order parsing for Enron and Daniel formats to match different third-party Modbus devices. An SD card slot is reserved for saving configuration files, and the configuration can be quickly restored to a replacement gateway during on-site fault replacement to shorten system downtime. The ProSoft Discovery Service tool helps users locate the gateway and modify IP address conveniently even without the same subnet. The gateway runs independently from the PLC controller, so protocol conversion and data mapping will not occupy the controller scan cycle or interfere with the original control logic. Conformal coating version is optional for dusty, humid and corrosive industrial environments.

This gateway adopts wide-range DC power supply from 10VDC to 36VDC, rated current 300mA at 24VDC. It supports DIN rail installation and features multiple LED indicators for power, error, network status and serial transmit/receive activity to facilitate quick on-site diagnosis. The operating temperature range is -25°C to 70°C, storage temperature ranges from -40°C to 80°C, with relative humidity 5% to 95% non-condensing. It meets IEC industrial shock and vibration standards and has reliable EMC protection against surge and electrostatic interference. It supports firmware upgrade and configuration backup for long-term on-site maintenance.
