The ProSoft PC56-OPC is an in-chassis industrial PC module designed for Rockwell 1756 ControlLogix rack platform, pre-installed with Windows XP Professional and integrated OPC DA server, which directly reads tag data from local and remote ControlLogix controllers through the ControlLogix backplane. It can serve as an OPC server to provide real-time PLC tag data for various OPC client software, including HMI, SCADA, data logging and MES systems. There is no need to modify the ControlLogix controller program for data collection, and it supports multiple ControlLogix processors on the same rack or remote nodes connected via Ethernet or ControlNet modules. It is equipped with a 500MHz AMD embedded processor, 4GB compact flash storage, serial port and Ethernet interface for network connection and debugging. The built-in SMC management console simplifies OPC tag configuration, connection setup and diagnostic monitoring. The module communicates with ControlLogix over the backplane independently, so OPC data collection and tag refresh will not affect the normal scan and control logic of the PLC processor. It adopts dedicated backplane API to achieve high-speed tag access, which is more stable than external OPC gateway computers for legacy ControlLogix systems. This module is discontinued and only supplied as spare parts for old automation systems.

This module fits standard 1756 ControlLogix single slot, draws 1A @5VDC from backplane. It supports hot-swappable operation for on-site replacement without shutting down the whole automation rack. LED indicators display power status, backplane communication health, system running status and network activity for fast on-site inspection and troubleshooting. The operating temperature range is 0°C to 60°C, storage temperature ranges from -40°C to 85°C, with 5% to 95% non-condensing humidity tolerance. It meets industrial shock and vibration standards and adopts reliable EMC protection against surge and electrostatic interference, and it has certification for hazardous zone 2 applications. It supports configuration file backup and firmware upgrade for routine maintenance.

This in-rack OPC server industrial PC module is widely used in factory data acquisition, production information management, legacy ControlLogix system SCADA connection and industrial automation data integration projects. It realizes native OPC data access inside the ControlLogix rack without additional external industrial computers or OPC gateway hardware, simplifying the data transmission architecture between PLC and upper monitoring software. As a discontinued legacy module, the PC56-OPC is mainly supplied as spare replacement parts for running automation systems. It maintains stable OPC DA data transmission, preserves the original ControlLogix control system and network wiring, and reduces the renovation cost of industrial data acquisition integration.
