The ProSoft MVI94-DNP is a single-slot DNP3 communication module designed for Rockwell 1794 FLEX I/O platform, built to integrate FLEX I/O systems with DNP3 SCADA networks. It supports DNP3 Level 2 and partial Level 3 functions, and can be configured as either DNP3 master or slave to connect with remote terminal units, protective relays, power meters and other intelligent electronic devices widely used in power, water and oil & gas industries. It is equipped with two isolated serial ports, each port supports jumper-selectable RS232, RS422 and RS485 interfaces, with 500V optical isolation to prevent electrical interference from field bus. Users can adjust baud rate, parity, data bits, stop bits and timeout parameters to match different serial communication settings of DNP devices. The module supports core DNP3 services including analog input reading, binary status acquisition, counter recording, event reporting, time synchronization and remote control operation. It supports unsolicited message transmission and class-based event data upload, which meets the real-time data collection requirements of SCADA systems. The local database is fully user-defined to store DNP point data, and flexible mapping is available between DNP data points and FLEX I/O backplane data. A dedicated RS232 debug port is reserved for configuration file download, online communication monitoring and fault diagnosis. The module exchanges data with FLEX processor asynchronously over the 1794 backplane, so DNP polling and event processing will not occupy the controller scan cycle and disturb real-time control logic. Sample ladder logic is provided for configuration, and ProSoft Configuration Builder is used to edit point lists, polling schedules and communication parameters. This module is discontinued and only supplied as spare replacement parts for legacy FLEX I/O SCADA systems.

This module fits any single slot of 1794 FLEX backplane, consumes 20mA at 5VDC on backplane, and requires external 12V to 24VDC power supply. It supports hot-swappable operation for on-site replacement without shutting down the whole automation system. Multiple LED indicators display module status, backplane transfer status, serial transmit/receive activity and communication fault alarms for fast on-site inspection and troubleshooting. The operating temperature range is 0°C to 55°C, storage temperature ranges from -40°C to 85°C, with 5% to 95% non-condensing humidity tolerance. It meets industrial shock and vibration standards and adopts reliable EMC protection against surge and electrostatic interference, and it is certified for Class 1 Division 2 hazardous locations. It supports configuration file backup and firmware upgrade for routine maintenance.

This DNP3 serial master/slave module is widely used in power substation automation, water treatment SCADA, oil and gas pipeline monitoring and energy distribution renovation projects. It provides native DNP3 serial connectivity inside the FLEX I/O rack without external protocol converters, helping users integrate Rockwell FLEX I/O into DNP3 SCADA networks. As a discontinued legacy communication module, the MVI94-DNP is mainly supplied as spare replacement parts for running automation systems. It maintains stable DNP3 serial data transmission, preserves the original field IED devices and serial wiring, and reduces the renovation cost of SCADA system upgrade.
