The ProSoft MVI69E-MBS is an enhanced single-slot Modbus serial communication module built for Rockwell 1769 CompactLogix chassis, designed to establish stable Modbus RTU and ASCII connections between CompactLogix controllers and various serial field instruments. It is equipped with two independent isolated serial ports, each port can be flexibly set as Modbus master or slave separately, supporting RS232, RS422 and RS485 electrical interfaces. The module supports baud rate ranging from 110 baud to 115200 baud, with configurable parity, data bits, stop bits and RTS delay time. It adopts CRC-16 check for RTU mode and LRC check for ASCII mode, and provides configurable floating-point data parsing compatible with Enron and Daniel floating-point formats, which solves the data byte order conversion problem of different Modbus devices. It can run up to 250 Modbus commands per serial port, and the local internal database supports up to 10000 words for data storage and tag mapping, which meets the demand of large-volume data acquisition and control. A dedicated 10/100Mbps Ethernet debug port is reserved for configuration download, online diagnosis, communication status monitoring and fault log checking. The module exchanges data with CompactLogix processor asynchronously over the 1769 backplane, so Modbus polling and message response will not occupy the PLC scan cycle and affect the real-time control logic. It comes with official add-on profile and add-on instruction for Studio 5000, which automatically creates UDT tags and diagnostic information, greatly shortening on-site commissioning time. The module configuration can be saved together with the CompactLogix ACD project file, which is convenient for project backup and recovery. Conformal coating version is optional for corrosive and humid industrial environments.

This module fits standard 1769 single-slot rack and consumes 500mA at 5VDC from the backplane. It supports hot-swappable operation for on-site replacement without shutting down the whole automation rack. Multiple LED indicators display module power status, backplane communication, serial port transmit and receive activity and configuration validity for fast on-site inspection and troubleshooting. The operating temperature range is 0°C to 60°C, storage temperature ranges from -40°C to 85°C, with 5% to 95% non-condensing humidity tolerance. It has 500V optical isolation between serial ports and backplane, meets industrial shock and vibration standards and adopts reliable EMC protection against surge and electrostatic interference. It supports configuration file backup and firmware upgrade for routine maintenance.
