Product Details
The ProSoft MVI69E-LDM is an enhanced Linux-based programmable development module designed for Rockwell 1769 CompactLogix and MicroLogix 1500 LRP chassis. It serves as an in-chassis edge co-processor for implementing custom communication protocols, IIoT applications and special data processing logic that standard off-the-shelf protocol modules cannot support. It runs on an embedded Linux operating system, providing users with a complete open development environment to compile and deploy custom C, Python and other application programs. The module is equipped with two independent 10/100Mbps auto-crossover Ethernet ports and two isolated serial ports which support RS232, RS422 and RS485, giving flexible access to serial instruments and Ethernet devices. It comes with built-in backplane API library, which enables stable asynchronous data exchange between Linux applications and CompactLogix controller tags over the 1769 backplane. This asynchronous data transfer ensures that user applications, network communication and serial polling tasks will not occupy the PLC scan cycle and disturb the real-time control logic. Pre-built sample firmware includes MQTT, Sparkplug B, AWS IoT and other industrial IoT demos, which can be directly modified for cloud data upload, equipment condition monitoring and remote data transmission. Users can access the module’s built-in web page for firmware update, runtime status check and log viewing. The official development kit, add-on profile and sample ladder logic are supplied for RSLogix 5000, and developers can use the dedicated toolchain to build, test and release custom firmware.
This module fits standard 1769 racks and draws 800mA at 5VDC from the backplane. It supports hot-swappable operation for on-site replacement without shutting down the whole automation rack. LED indicators and a scrolling alphanumeric display show module status, backplane communication health, Ethernet link activity and application runtime information for fast on-site inspection and troubleshooting. The operating temperature range is 0°C to 60°C, storage temperature ranges from -40°C to 85°C, with 5% to 95% non-condensing humidity tolerance. It meets industrial shock and vibration specifications, and adopts reliable EMC protection against surge and electrostatic interference for factory automation, energy and process control environments. It supports custom firmware backup and version upgrade for function iteration and field maintenance.
This Linux development module is widely used in industrial IoT cloud connection, special protocol conversion, custom algorithm data acquisition, legacy equipment networking and smart factory transformation projects. It adds native edge computing capability inside CompactLogix rack without external industrial gateways, which greatly reduces the complexity of mixed-brand and cloud-connected automation systems. As a discontinued legacy module, the MVI69E-LDM is mainly supplied as spare replacement parts for running automation systems. It maintains stable execution of custom Linux applications, preserves the original field instruments and network wiring, and reduces the renovation cost of edge and custom protocol integration.
