The ProSoft MVI69-S3964R is a single-slot Siemens 3964R serial communication module built for Rockwell 1769 CompactLogix and MicroLogix 1500 LRP chassis. It implements the classic Siemens 3964R point-to-point protocol, and supports communication with or without RK512 for bidirectional data exchange between CompactLogix and legacy Siemens controllers, CP communication processors and other automation devices that adopt 3964R protocol. The module is equipped with two independent application serial ports, each port supports jumper-selectable RS232 and RS422 interfaces with 500V optical isolation from the backplane to reduce electrical interference. The baud rate can be configured from 300 baud up to 115200 baud, and users can adjust parity, data bits, stop bits, acknowledgement delay and retry times to match the serial communication settings of connected Siemens equipment. It adopts BCC checksum to ensure data integrity during transmission, and supports peer-to-peer read and write data operations. It has a built-in local register database with up to 5000 user-defined registers for data buffering and mapping between 3964R serial nodes and CompactLogix controller tags. A dedicated RS232 configuration port is reserved for configuration file download, online communication monitoring and fault diagnosis. The module exchanges data with the CompactLogix processor asynchronously over the 1769 backplane, so 3964R frame handshake and data transmission will not occupy the PLC scan cycle and interfere with real-time control logic. Add-on profile and sample ladder logic files are provided for RSLogix 5000, and ProSoft Configuration Builder software is used to set port mode, protocol selection, timeout parameters and data mapping rules. This is a discontinued legacy module mainly used for low-speed point-to-point serial interconnection scenarios.
