Product Details
The ProSoft MVI69-HART is a single-slot HART multi-drop master communication module designed for Rockwell 1769 CompactLogix and MicroLogix 1500 LRP chassis. It follows HART protocol version 5 based on Bell 202 FSK standard, operating at 1200 baud and overlaying digital HART signals on traditional 4-20mA analog loops. This module acts as a HART master to connect with HART-compatible field transmitters including pressure transmitters, temperature transmitters, flow meters, level sensors and other process instruments widely used in process automation. It supports multi-drop connection, and each HART channel can connect up to 15 HART slave devices. It can read primary variable, secondary variables, device tag information, diagnostic status, and also execute remote calibration and parameter writing commands defined by HART universal commands. The module has a built-in internal database with a maximum capacity of 5000 registers for data caching and mapping between HART field devices and CompactLogix controller tags. It is equipped with a dedicated RS232 configuration port for downloading configuration files, online monitoring of HART communication and fault diagnosis. Data exchange between the module and CompactLogix processor runs asynchronously over the 1769 backplane, so HART polling and digital signal processing will not occupy the PLC scan cycle and interfere with real-time control logic. Add-on profile and sample ladder logic are provided for RSLogix 5000, and ProSoft Configuration Builder software is used to configure slave address list, polling schedule and data mapping rules.
This module fits standard 1769 racks and consumes 800mA at 5VDC from the backplane. It supports hot-swappable operation for on-site replacement without shutting down the whole automation rack. LED indicators display module power status, backplane communication health, HART channel status and serial port activity for fast on-site inspection and troubleshooting. The operating temperature range is 0°C to 60°C, storage temperature ranges from -40°C to 85°C, with 5% to 95% non-condensing humidity tolerance. It meets industrial shock and vibration specifications and adopts reliable EMC protection against surge and electrostatic interference for chemical plants, refineries and remote process sites. It supports configuration file backup and firmware upgrade for routine maintenance.
This HART multi-drop master module is widely used in petrochemical, oil and gas, water treatment, power plant and refining process control projects. It brings native HART master capability inside the CompactLogix rack without external HART modems, allowing users to obtain both analog measurement and digital diagnostic data from smart field instruments. As a discontinued legacy communication module, the MVI69-HART is mainly supplied as spare replacement parts for running automation systems. It maintains stable HART digital communication on 4-20mA loops, preserves the original smart transmitters and field wiring, and reduces the renovation cost of process control system upgrade.
