Product Details

The ProSoft MVI69-DNPSNET is a single-slot DNP3.0 Ethernet slave communication module designed for Rockwell 1769 CompactLogix and MicroLogix 1500 LRP chassis, conforming to DNP3 Level 2 standard with partial Level 3 functions supported. It works as a DNP3 slave over TCP/IP and UDP Ethernet, allowing CompactLogix controllers to connect to remote SCADA master hosts, power monitoring systems and substation control centers through industrial Ethernet. It is equipped with one 10/100Mbps auto-sensing RJ45 Ethernet port for DNP3 network communication, and a separate RS232 configuration port for local configuration download, online monitoring and fault diagnosis. The module has a large local database for DNP point storage, supporting up to 8000 binary input points, 8000 binary output points, 500 analog input words, 500 analog output words, 250 counters, 150 float input points and 150 float output points. Users can freely define the point mapping layout to match the data requirements of the upper SCADA master system. It supports core DNP3 functions including analog measurement transmission, binary status reporting, counter value upload, event buffering, time synchronization and remote control command execution issued by the master station. The data exchange between the module and CompactLogix processor runs asynchronously over the 1769 backplane, so DNP3 network message processing and event response will not occupy the PLC scan cycle and affect real-time control logic. Add-on profile and sample ladder logic are provided for RSLogix 5000, and users configure point lists, network parameters and communication timeout through text configuration files in ProSoft Configuration Builder.

This module fits standard 1769 racks and draws 800mA at 5VDC from the backplane. It supports hot-swappable operation for on-site replacement without shutting down the whole rack. LED indicators display module power status, backplane communication status, Ethernet link activity and application fault alarms for fast on-site inspection and troubleshooting. The operating temperature range is 0°C to 60°C, storage temperature ranges from -40°C to 85°C, with 5% to 95% non-condensing humidity tolerance. It meets industrial shock and vibration standards and adopts reliable EMC protection against surge and electrostatic interference, suitable for power substation, water plant and outdoor SCADA cabinet environments. It supports configuration file backup and firmware upgrade for routine maintenance.

This DNP3 Ethernet slave module is widely used in power distribution automation, water supply SCADA, oil and gas pipeline monitoring and energy management system renovation projects. It brings native DNP3 over Ethernet slave capability to CompactLogix without external protocol converters, helping users integrate Rockwell PLC into Ethernet-based DNP SCADA systems. As a discontinued legacy communication module, the MVI69-DNPSNET is mainly supplied as spare replacement parts for running automation systems. It maintains stable DNP3 Ethernet data transmission, preserves the original SCADA master system and network wiring, and reduces the renovation cost of Ethernet SCADA system upgrade.
