Product Details
The ProSoft MVI69-DNP is a single-slot DNP 3.0 serial communication module designed for Rockwell 1769 CompactLogix and MicroLogix 1500 LRP chassis, widely adopted in power SCADA and substation automation systems. It supports both DNP3 master and slave operation, compliant with DNP3 Level 2 standard and partial Level 3 functions, which allows CompactLogix to connect with remote terminal units, intelligent electronic devices, protection relays and SCADA host systems over serial links. It is equipped with two isolated application serial ports, each jumper-selectable for RS232, RS422 or RS485 interface, supporting adjustable baud rate, parity, data bits and stop bits to match field wiring requirements. As a DNP3 master, it polls binary status, analog measurements, counter values and event records from remote DNP slave devices, and sends remote control commands including trip and close operations. As a DNP3 slave, it responds to read and write requests from upper SCADA masters and uploads real-time status and alarm events. The module maintains a local configurable DNP database to store binary inputs, binary outputs, analog values, counters and floating-point data, and supports time synchronization and event buffering for sequence of event recording. Data exchange between the module and CompactLogix processor runs asynchronously over the 1769 backplane, so serial polling and event processing will not occupy PLC scan time and disrupt real-time control logic. A dedicated RS232 configuration port is used for downloading configuration files, online diagnosis and fault checking. Add-on profile and sample ladder logic are available for RSLogix 5000, and ProSoft Configuration Builder is used to set station addresses, polling schedules, point mapping and communication timeout parameters.
This module fits standard 1769 racks and draws 800mA maximum current at 5VDC from the backplane. It supports hot-swappable operation for on-site replacement without shutting down the whole automation rack. LED indicators display module status, backplane communication, serial transmit and receive activity and fault alarms for fast field inspection and troubleshooting. The operating temperature range is 0°C to 60°C, storage temperature ranges from -40°C to 85°C, with relative humidity from 5% to 95% non-condensing. It meets industrial shock and vibration standards and adopts 500V optical isolation and EMC protection against surge and electrostatic interference to adapt to harsh substation environments. It supports configuration backup and firmware upgrade for routine maintenance.
This DNP3 serial communication module is widely used in power distribution SCADA, hydropower station monitoring, substation renovation, oil and gas pipeline remote monitoring and energy management projects. It enables CompactLogix systems to join legacy DNP3 serial networks without external protocol converters, realizing centralized data collection and remote control of power automation devices. As a discontinued legacy module, the MVI69-DNP is mainly supplied as spare replacement parts for running automation systems. It maintains stable DNP3 serial data transmission, preserves the original IEDs and field serial wiring, and reduces the renovation cost of power SCADA system integration.
