The ProSoft MVI69-DFCM is a single-slot DF1 serial communication module designed for Rockwell 1769 CompactLogix and MicroLogix 1500 LRP chassis. It serves as a bidirectional gateway for DF1 protocol, the classic serial protocol widely used by Allen-Bradley legacy PLCs, HMI, remote terminal units and third-party monitoring instruments. It is equipped with two independent RJ45 serial ports, and each port can be independently configured as DF1 master or DF1 slave, supporting full-duplex and half-duplex working modes. Users can select BCC or CRC checksum for data verification, and adjust baud rate from 110 baud up to 115200 baud, with configurable parity, data bits and stop bits to match the serial settings of old Rockwell controllers and field devices. The module provides a 5000-word internal register database for data caching and flexible mapping between DF1 network devices and CompactLogix controller tags. The data exchange between the module and the CompactLogix processor runs asynchronously over the 1769 backplane, so the DF1 polling and message response will not occupy the PLC scan cycle and affect the real-time control logic. It supports multi-drop serial bus networking, and can collect status data or send control commands to multiple DF1 nodes on the same serial line. Add-on profile and sample ladder logic are provided for RSLogix 5000, and ProSoft Configuration Builder software is used to set station ID, polling sequence, communication timeout and data mapping rules.

This module fits standard 1769 racks and draws power directly from the backplane. It supports hot-swappable operation for on-site replacement without shutting down the whole automation rack. LED indicators display module power status, backplane communication status, serial transmit/receive activity and communication fault alarms for fast on-site inspection and troubleshooting. The operating temperature range is 0°C to 60°C, storage temperature ranges from -40°C to 85°C. It meets industrial shock and vibration standards, and adopts EMC protection against surge and electrostatic interference for factory and process automation environments. It supports configuration file backup and firmware upgrade for routine maintenance and debugging.

This DF1 serial communication module is widely used in legacy Rockwell control system renovation, water treatment, oil and gas pipeline SCADA, food processing and manufacturing automation upgrade projects. It enables CompactLogix to connect with old Allen-Bradley PLCs and DF1-compatible devices without external serial protocol converters, realizing seamless data exchange between new and old Rockwell control systems. As a discontinued legacy module, the MVI69-DFCM is mainly supplied as spare replacement parts for running automation systems. It maintains stable DF1 serial data transmission, preserves the original legacy PLCs and field serial wiring, and reduces the renovation cost of old automation system integration.
