Product Details

The ProSoft MVI69-ADM is a programmable application development module designed for Rockwell 1769 CompactLogix and MicroLogix 1500 LRP chassis. It provides developers with a flexible platform to write custom serial communication code for unique or proprietary protocols that standard off-the-shelf protocol modules cannot support. It is equipped with two independent application serial ports, supporting RS232, RS422 and RS485 electrical interfaces, with configurable baud rate, parity, data bits and stop bits to match various legacy sensors, weighing devices, barcode readers and special industrial instruments. Users can develop C-language programs to implement custom framing, checksum calculation, data parsing and handshake logic on the module’s local processor. The module has a built-in internal register database for data buffering and mapping between the serial side and CompactLogix tags. Data exchange between the module and the controller runs asynchronously over the 1769 backplane, so custom serial communication tasks will not occupy the PLC scan time and disturb the real-time control logic. It also includes a dedicated configuration and debug RS232 port for program downloading, runtime monitoring and fault troubleshooting. The official development kit, add-on profile and sample ladder logic are supplied for RSLogix 5000, and developers can test and deploy custom firmware through the ProSoft development toolchain.

This module fits standard 1769 racks and draws power directly from the backplane. It supports hot-swappable operation for on-site replacement without shutting down the whole automation rack. LED indicators display module status, backplane communication status, serial port transmit and receive activity and runtime error alarms for fast on-site inspection and troubleshooting. The operating temperature range is 0°C to 60°C, storage temperature ranges from -40°C to 85°C. It meets industrial shock and vibration specifications, and adopts EMC protection against surge and electrostatic interference for factory and process automation environments. It supports application firmware backup and upgrade for function iteration and maintenance.

This programmable ADM module is widely used in factory automation renovation, special instrument data acquisition, legacy equipment upgrade and custom protocol conversion projects. It allows CompactLogix systems to communicate with non-standard serial devices without adding external third-party gateways, which is ideal for projects with unique communication requirements. As a discontinued legacy module, the MVI69-ADM is mainly supplied as spare replacement parts for running automation systems. It maintains stable execution of custom serial programs, preserves the original field devices and serial wiring, and reduces the renovation cost of special protocol integration.
