Product Details
The ProSoft MVI69-103M is a single-slot backplane communication module designed for Rockwell 1769 CompactLogix and MicroLogix 1500 LRP controller platforms, implementing IEC 60870-5-103 master protocol for substation protection equipment communication. It is equipped with two independent serial master ports, each port can run separate IEC 103 networks, and the module supports up to 32 slave protection devices in total, including protective relays, circuit breakers, substation communication units and power monitoring instruments. The serial interfaces support RS232, RS422 and RS485, with adjustable baud rate, parity and frame format to match the wiring requirements of on-site power equipment. It can collect event records, fault signals, analog measurement values and status information from slave devices, and execute general interrogation, time synchronization and remote control commands defined by the IEC 103 standard. The module maintains a local internal database to cache all acquired power data, and exchanges data with the CompactLogix processor asynchronously over the 1769 backplane, so the serial polling and event processing will not affect the PLC scan cycle and real-time control logic. A dedicated configuration RS232 port is used for downloading configuration files, online monitoring and fault diagnosis. Add-on profile and sample ladder logic are provided for RSLogix 5000, and text configuration files are used to set slave address list, polling sequence and data mapping rules.
This module is compatible with standard 1769 CompactLogix racks and draws power from the backplane. It supports hot-swappable operation for on-site replacement without shutting down the whole rack. LED indicators display module status, backplane communication health, serial port activity and bus fault alarms for fast field inspection and troubleshooting. The operating temperature range is 0°C to 60°C, and storage temperature ranges from -40°C to 85°C. It meets industrial shock and vibration standards, and adopts EMC protection against surge and electrostatic interference for power plant and substation environments. It supports configuration backup and firmware upgrade for routine maintenance.
This IEC 60870-5-103 master module is widely used in power substation automation, power distribution protection monitoring, hydropower station and energy management renovation projects. It directly integrates CompactLogix controllers into legacy IEC 103 protection networks without external protocol converters, realizing centralized monitoring and control of multi-brand protective relays. As a discontinued legacy communication module, the MVI69-103M is mainly supplied as spare replacement parts for running automation systems. It keeps stable IEC 103 serial data transmission, retains the original substation protection equipment and field wiring, and reduces the renovation cost of power protection system upgrade.
