The ProSoft MVI56E-SIE is a single-slot enhanced communication module designed for Rockwell 1756 ControlLogix chassis. It acts as a Siemens S7 Ethernet client, allowing ControlLogix PAC to exchange data with Siemens S7 series PLCs over industrial Ethernet. It supports up to 20 simultaneous connections to S7-200, S7-300, S7-400, S7-1200 and S7-1500 controllers, reading and writing DB blocks, input, output, marker and counter data. The module has a 10/100Mbps auto-crossover RJ45 Ethernet port, built-in web server and CIPconnect function, supporting remote configuration, online diagnosis and firmware upgrade through EtherNet/IP or ControlNet. The internal user memory supports up to 5000 16-bit registers for flexible data mapping between Siemens S7 devices and ControlLogix tags. Data exchange between the module and ControlLogix processor runs asynchronously through the backplane, so the S7 communication polling will not occupy the controller scan time and affect the real-time control logic. Users can enable or disable communication commands directly from ladder logic without re-downloading module configuration. Add-on instructions and sample ladder logic are provided for RSLogix 5000 and Studio 5000, and ProSoft Configuration Builder software is used to set up S7 connection parameters, data block mapping and communication fault alarms.

This module can be installed in local or remote 1756 ControlLogix chassis and draws 800mA at 5VDC from the backplane. It supports hot-swappable operation for on-site replacement without shutting down the whole rack. The front panel has a 4-character scrolling alphanumeric LED display to show IP address, connection status and fault prompts for fast on-site inspection and troubleshooting. It supports CF personality card to store complete configuration files for quick recovery and spare module swap. The operating temperature range is 0°C to 60°C, with industrial EMC protection against surge and electrostatic interference, and meets shock and vibration standards for industrial automation sites. It supports configuration backup and remote firmware upgrade to reduce field maintenance workload.

This Siemens S7 Ethernet client module is widely used in mixed-brand automation projects, factory production line transformation, petrochemical, water treatment and power plant auxiliary control systems.
