Product Details

The ProSoft MVI56E-DNPNET is an enhanced single-slot in-chassis Ethernet communication module designed for Rockwell ControlLogix 1756 racks, supporting DNP3 over Ethernet with both client and server functions running simultaneously. As a DNP3 client, it can connect up to 40 DNP3 server devices including RTUs, protection relays and intelligent electronic devices, and execute 300 user-defined polling commands to collect analog measurements, binary status points, counters and timestamped events. As a DNP3 server, it accepts connection requests from remote SCADA or DCS master hosts, uploads ControlLogix tag data and responds to remote control commands. It supports up to 20000 data points and can store 20000 timestamped event records locally. When the Ethernet communication link is interrupted, the module will buffer event data automatically and transmit all cached records once the network recovers, which prevents data loss for critical power and industrial monitoring systems. It adopts dual 10/100Mbps Ethernet ports, supports CIPconnect and built-in web server for remote configuration, diagnosis and firmware maintenance. Data exchange between the module and the ControlLogix processor runs asynchronously through the backplane, so the DNP3 polling and reporting service will not interfere with the controller scan cycle and real-time control logic. Engineers can use ProSoft Configuration Builder and official add-on instructions inside Studio 5000 or RSLogix 5000 to finish point mapping, command list setup and status monitoring.

This module can be installed in local or remote 1756 ControlLogix chassis and powered by the backplane. It supports hot-swappable operation for convenient maintenance without shutting down the whole rack. Front LED indicators display backplane communication status, Ethernet link activity and module fault status for fast on-site inspection and troubleshooting. It provides comprehensive diagnostic data including connection status, communication error counters, offline device alarms and real-time point value view. It adopts industrial EMC protection against surge and electrostatic interference, with an operating temperature range of 0°C to 60°C, adapting to high-interference environments such as power substations, water treatment plants and oil and gas pipeline stations. It supports configuration file backup and remote firmware upgrade to reduce on-site maintenance workload.

This DNP3 Ethernet module is widely used in power distribution SCADA, substation automation, oil and gas pipeline monitoring, water and wastewater treatment control and legacy industrial control system migration projects. It brings native DNP3 Ethernet capability to ControlLogix PAC without extra standalone protocol converters, and helps integrate Rockwell control hardware into standard DNP3 SCADA networks. As a discontinued legacy communication module, the MVI56E-DNPNET is mainly supplied as spare replacement parts for running automation systems. It maintains stable bidirectional DNP3 Ethernet data transmission, retains the original SCADA host and field device wiring, and reduces the renovation cost of utility monitoring systems.
