The ProSoft MVI56-PDPS is a single-slot PROFIBUS DP V0 slave communication module designed for Rockwell 1756 ControlLogix chassis, compliant with IEC 61158 standard. It enables the ControlLogix controller to act as a PROFIBUS DP slave node and exchange cyclic I/O data with any PROFIBUS DP master controller on the fieldbus network. It supports up to 244 bytes of input data and 244 bytes of output data, with a maximum total data size of 400 bytes, and users can freely map input and output data blocks in module memory to match the master station configuration requirements. This module is equipped with a dedicated PROFIBUS DP bus interface and a local RS232 configuration port for parameter setting, online monitoring and fault diagnosis through PC software. The GSD file is provided for the PROFIBUS master station configuration tool to recognize the slave device and define data exchange structure. Data exchange between the module and ControlLogix processor runs asynchronously over the backplane, so the cyclic PROFIBUS data transmission will not occupy the controller scan time and affect the real-time control logic. It is widely used in scenarios where the ControlLogix system needs to be integrated into an existing PROFIBUS DP network controlled by a third-party master PLC. Sample ladder logic is available for RSLogix 5000, and ProSoft configuration software is used to edit data mapping, station address and communication timeout parameters.

This module can be installed in local or remote 1756 ControlLogix chassis and draws 800mA at 5VDC from the backplane. It supports hot-swappable operation for on-site replacement without shutting down the whole rack. Multiple LED indicators display module status, backplane communication status and PROFIBUS bus fault information for fast on-site inspection and troubleshooting. The operating temperature range is 0°C to 60°C, and storage temperature ranges from -40°C to 85°C. It passes industrial shock and vibration tests, and adopts industrial EMC protection against surge and electrostatic interference. It supports configuration file backup and firmware upgrade for routine maintenance.

This PROFIBUS DP slave module is widely used in petrochemical, power plant, water treatment, packaging machinery and production line automation renovation projects. It allows ControlLogix to join the existing PROFIBUS DP network as a slave without additional external protocol converters, realizing seamless data interaction between Rockwell and other brand PROFIBUS master systems. As a discontinued legacy communication module, the MVI56-PDPS is mainly supplied as spare replacement parts for running automation systems. It maintains stable cyclic PROFIBUS DP slave communication, preserves the original PROFIBUS master system and bus wiring, and reduces the transformation cost of mixed-brand fieldbus integration.
