The ProSoft MVI56-PDPMV1 is a single-slot PROFIBUS DPV1 master communication module designed for Rockwell 1756 ControlLogix chassis, fully compliant with IEC 61158 standard. It acts as a PROFIBUS DP master to connect ControlLogix controllers to PROFIBUS DP slave devices, including drives, remote I/O, transmitters, valve positioners and other fieldbus instruments that support DPV0 and DPV1 protocols. It supports cyclic I/O data exchange for real-time control, and acyclic parameter access via Class 1 and Class 2 DPV1 services, which is used for device parameter reading, diagnosis and maintenance operations. The module supports two operating modes: Legacy mode with fixed I/O block size and Flex mode with adjustable backplane data block size, the Flex mode is optimized for remote rack installation to reduce backplane bandwidth occupation. It supports PROFIBUS baud rate up to 12 Mbps, and can connect multiple PROFIBUS slave nodes on one bus. The data exchange between the module and ControlLogix processor runs asynchronously over the backplane, so the fieldbus data transmission will not affect the controller scan cycle and real-time control logic. It is equipped with a RS232 configuration port for local setup, and supports CIPconnect technology for remote configuration and diagnosis through EtherNet/IP network. Add-on instructions and sample ladder logic are provided for RSLogix 5000 and Studio 5000, and ProSoft Configuration Builder software is used for slave station list import, parameter mapping and bus diagnostic configuration.

This module can be installed in local or remote 1756 ControlLogix chassis and draws 800mA at 5VDC from the backplane. It supports hot-swappable operation for on-site replacement without shutting down the whole rack. Multiple LED indicators display module status, backplane transfer status, application running status and PROFIBUS bus fault information for fast on-site inspection and troubleshooting. The operating temperature range is 0°C to 60°C, storage temperature from -40°C to 85°C. It passes industrial shock and vibration tests, with 30g shock during operation and 5g vibration from 10Hz to 150Hz. It adopts industrial EMC protection against surge and electrostatic interference, and supports configuration backup and firmware upgrade for routine maintenance.

This PROFIBUS DPV1 master module is widely used in petrochemical, power plant, water treatment, packaging machinery and production line automation renovation projects. It realizes native PROFIBUS DP master function inside the ControlLogix rack, and eliminates the need for external standalone PROFIBUS gateways, simplifying the mixed-brand control system networking. As a discontinued legacy communication module, the MVI56-PDPMV1 is mainly supplied as spare replacement parts for running automation systems. It maintains stable cyclic and acyclic PROFIBUS communication, preserves the original PROFIBUS field devices and bus wiring, and reduces the transformation cost of fieldbus system upgrade.
