The ProSoft MVI56-104S is a single-slot in-chassis server module designed for Rockwell ControlLogix 1756 rack, implementing IEC 60870-5-104 TCP/IP protocol for power SCADA network connection. It acts as an IEC 104 server, accepting TCP connection requests from remote SCADA master hosts over Ethernet, uploading analog measurements, digital status points, timestamped alarm events and counter values, and executing write commands from the master side to adjust setpoints and control outputs. It supports true report-by-exception function, which pushes data automatically when value changes instead of waiting for polling, ensuring fast response for critical power signals. The module integrates a 4000-word internal register database for data buffering and mapping, and data exchange with the ControlLogix processor runs asynchronously through the backplane without interfering with the controller scan cycle. It uses standard TCP port 2404 for IEC 104 communication, and supports multiple concurrent master connections for centralized monitoring of substation equipment.

This module is installed directly into the 1756 ControlLogix chassis and powered by the backplane. It supports hot-swappable operation for maintenance without shutting down the whole rack. Front LED indicators display backplane status, Ethernet link activity and module fault status for quick on-site inspection.
