The ProSoft MVI46-PDPMV1 is a single-slot in-chassis PROFIBUS DP-V1 master module designed for Rockwell 1746 SLC 500 racks. It works as a PROFIBUS network scanner conforming to IEC 61158 standard, enabling SLC processors to connect and communicate with PROFIBUS DP-V0 and DP-V1 slave devices, including variable frequency drives, remote I/O blocks, pressure transmitters, flow meters, valve positioners and intelligent field instruments. It supports cyclic DPV0 process data exchange for real-time control, as well as acyclic Class 1 and Class 2 DPV1 services for parameter configuration, device diagnosis and asset management. Data exchange between the module and the SLC processor is completed asynchronously through M0 and M1 backplane files, which separates PROFIBUS bus communication from the PLC scan cycle and avoids interfering with the main control logic. It adopts a standard PROFIBUS RS485 interface with a maximum baud rate of 12 Mbps, and supports GSD file import for convenient slave station configuration in ProSoft configuration software.

This module is installed in the standard 1746 SLC chassis and draws 800mA at 5VDC from the backplane. It only supports local and extended racks and cannot be used in remote I/O racks. It requires SLC 5/02 or higher processors that support M0/M1 file functions. Front LED indicators display backplane status, PROFIBUS bus activity and module fault status for fast on-site inspection and troubleshooting. It comes with a dedicated configuration port for project download, and ready-to-use sample ladder logic for RSLogix 500 is provided to shorten programming time. It provides comprehensive diagnostic data including slave offline alarms, bus error counters, I/O data status and DPV1 message logs. It is built with industrial EMC protection against surge and electrostatic interference, with an operating temperature range of 0°C to 60°C, stable for long-term operation in petrochemical, power and water treatment fieldbus environments. It supports flash firmware upgrade and configuration file backup for easy maintenance.

This PROFIBUS master module is widely used in process control, power substation automation, water treatment, petrochemical and legacy SLC system migration projects. It adds native PROFIBUS DP-V1 master capability to the SLC 500 platform without extra standalone gateways, simplifying the integration of Siemens and other PROFIBUS field devices into Rockwell control systems. As a discontinued legacy module, the MVI46-PDPMV1 is mainly supplied as spare replacement parts for running automation systems. It maintains reliable cyclic and acyclic PROFIBUS data transmission, preserves the original fieldbus wiring and slave instruments, and reduces the renovation cost of heterogeneous control system integration.
