The ProSoft MVI46-DFNT is a single-slot in-chassis network interface module built for Rockwell 1746 SLC 500 racks, which enables SLC processors to communicate with EtherNet/IP devices via explicit messaging. It works as both EtherNet/IP client and server, supporting up to 100 user-defined read and write commands to exchange tag data, status signals and alarm information with ControlLogix, CompactLogix, HMI, SCADA hosts and other EtherNet/IP compatible equipment. It includes 20 independent server connections, allowing remote EtherNet/IP nodes to access data inside the module. The embedded Ethernet pass-through function supports remote programming and troubleshooting of SLC controller channel 0 over Ethernet, which greatly reduces on-site maintenance work. Data exchange between this module and the SLC processor is realized through M0/M1 backplane files, and the internal register database supports flexible data mapping for industrial monitoring and control tasks.

This module is installed into the standard 1746 SLC chassis and draws 800mA at 5VDC from the backplane. It only supports local and extended racks and cannot be used on remote I/O racks. Front LED indicators display backplane communication status, Ethernet link activity and module fault status for fast fault location during commissioning and daily inspection. Users can complete command list configuration, IP address setting and firmware upgrade through ProSoft Configuration Builder software. Sample ladder logic for RSLogix 500 is provided to simplify programming development. It provides detailed diagnostic data including command error counters, connection status and real-time register value view. It adopts industrial EMC protection design against surge and electrostatic interference, with an operating temperature range of 0°C to 60°C, suitable for factory automation, water treatment and SCADA system environments.

This EtherNet/IP communication module is widely used in legacy SLC system upgrade, cross-controller data exchange, HMI and SCADA networking, and production line interconnection projects. It adds native EtherNet/IP connectivity to SLC 500 controllers without extra external gateways, helping users integrate old SLC hardware into modern Rockwell EtherNet/IP network architecture. As a discontinued legacy module, the MVI46-DFNT is mainly supplied as spare replacement parts for running automation systems. It maintains stable explicit messaging transmission, preserves the original SLC control program and field wiring, and cuts the renovation cost of legacy PLC networking.
