Product Details
The ProSoft MVI46-DFCM is a single-slot in-chassis communication module designed for Rockwell 1746 SLC 500 racks, supporting DF1 half-duplex and full-duplex protocol for serial interconnection between Rockwell controllers and DF1-compatible devices. It is equipped with two independent application serial ports, and each port can be flexibly set as DF1 master or slave separately. The module supports RS232, RS422 and RS485 electrical interfaces, and can exchange register data, status signals and alarm information with PLC-5, MicroLogix, power monitoring meters and other third-party DF1 field devices. It uses M0 and M1 files to exchange data with the SLC processor through the backplane, and the internal register database can realize efficient data mapping and forwarding. It can work as a data concentrator to collect data from multiple DF1 nodes on the bus, and upload integrated data to the SLC controller for SCADA monitoring and data recording.
This module fits into the standard 1746 SLC chassis and draws 800mA at 5VDC from the backplane. It is suitable for SLC 5/02 and higher processors with M0/M1 file support. The front panel LED indicators display backplane communication status, serial transmit, serial receive and fault alarm status, helping technicians quickly judge communication quality and locate bus faults during commissioning and maintenance. Configuration files are downloaded through the dedicated configuration port, and complete sample ladder logic for RSLogix 500 is provided to reduce programming workload. It supplies comprehensive diagnostic functions including communication error counters, slave response status and real-time register data viewing. It adopts industrial EMC protection design to resist surge and electrostatic interference, with an operating temperature range of 0°C to 60°C, adapting to factory, pipeline and offshore industrial environments. It also supports configuration backup and firmware upgrade for stable long-term operation.
This DF1 communication module is widely used in pipeline SCADA systems, mining, pulp and paper, food processing, offshore platform and legacy Rockwell control system renovation projects. It adds native DF1 serial connectivity to the SLC 500 platform without extra independent protocol converters, simplifying the serial communication architecture of multi-node DF1 networks. As a discontinued legacy module, the MVI46-DFCM is mainly supplied as spare replacement parts for running automation systems. It maintains stable bidirectional DF1 serial data transmission, retains the original field wiring and DF1 devices, and reduces the transformation cost of legacy Rockwell system interconnection.
