Product Details
The ProSoft MVI46-103M is a single-slot in-chassis communication module designed for Rockwell 1746 SLC 500 rack, supporting IEC 60870-5-103 master protocol for power substation equipment connection. It acts as an IEC 103 master to collect protection event data, status signals, measurement values and fault records from protective relays, circuit breakers, substation IEDs and other power automation devices. The module is equipped with two independent serial master ports, each port can be configured separately for RS232, RS422 or RS485 interface. It supports up to 32 controlled IED devices on two ports, and contains up to 1000 user-defined commands for data polling and clock synchronization. The internal database can store up to 4000 registers, and data is exchanged with SLC processor through M0/M1 files over the SLC backplane. It supports event recording, time stamp synchronization and multi-sector data grouping, which meets the data acquisition requirements of power protection monitoring.
This module fits into the standard 1746 SLC chassis and draws 800mA at 5VDC from the backplane. It cannot be used in remote I/O racks, only for local or extended racks. Front LED indicators show backplane status, serial transmit, receive and fault alarm status for quick on-site inspection. Configuration is completed by downloading text configuration files, and sample ladder logic is provided for RSLogix 500 to simplify programming work. It supplies rich diagnostic data including communication error counters, IED offline status and event message logs. It adopts industrial-grade EMC design for power industry interference environment, with an operating temperature range of 0°C to 60°C. It supports configuration backup and firmware upgrade for long-term stable operation in substation sites.
This IEC 103 master module is widely used in power substation monitoring, relay protection data collection, distribution automation and legacy SLC power control system renovation projects. It enables SLC 500 PLC to directly access IEC 103 protection devices without extra protocol converter, simplifying the substation communication architecture. As a discontinued legacy module, the MVI46-103M is mainly supplied as spare replacement parts for running power automation systems. It maintains stable serial IEC 103 data transmission, retains the original relay and IED wiring, and reduces the reconstruction cost of substation monitoring systems.
