The ProSoft ILX800-SMSG is a plug-in communication module specially designed for Allen‑Bradley Micro800 series controllers including Micro820, Micro830 and Micro850. It adds bidirectional SMS text messaging function over GSM cellular networks, enabling the PLC to send alarm notifications, equipment status data, production counts and sensor readings to mobile phones, and receive remote SMS commands to trigger control logic. This module uses standard GSM SIM cards and supports multiple global frequency bands of 850MHz,900MHz,1800MHz and 1900MHz. It supports a phone number whitelist function to restrict access only to authorized users and improve system security. It connects directly to the front expansion slot of the Micro800 controller, communicates and gets power via the controller backplane without extra separate power supply. The front coaxial antenna interface supports both built-in and external antennas for better signal reception in weak signal areas. Complete CCW function block drivers and sample programs in ladder logic, structured text and function block are provided, which greatly shortens the development cycle for remote alarm and control projects.

This plug-in module fits the Micro800 front slot structure and draws power from the host controller backplane. It has LED indicators for power, GSM network registration, signal strength and message transmission status, helping engineers check network connection and message sending status quickly during commissioning and on-site troubleshooting. It does not rely on broadband data service, so users can use low-cost SMS service plans instead of expensive cellular data packages. It has stable EMC protection against electrostatic discharge and radio frequency interference, suitable for outdoor pumping stations, irrigation systems, remote tank monitoring and unattended equipment sites. The operating temperature range is 0°C to 55°C, and it supports remote firmware upgrade for function maintenance.

This SMS communication module is widely used in water pump remote alarm, agricultural irrigation control, tank farm monitoring, energy equipment status notification and unattended machinery remote control projects. It provides an economical remote notification solution for Micro800 systems without deploying complex VPN or Ethernet remote access. As a discontinued legacy plug-in module, the ILX800-SMSG is mainly supplied as spare replacement parts for running automation systems.
