The ProSoft ILX69-PBS is a 1769 single-slot PROFIBUS DPV1 slave communication module designed for Rockwell CompactLogix and MicroLogix controller racks. It allows CompactLogix PLCs to act as a PROFIBUS DP slave node and exchange data with any PROFIBUS DP master controller on the fieldbus network, such as Siemens S7 PLCs and other PROFIBUS master hosts. This module follows IEC 61158 standard and supports both cyclic DPV0 process data exchange and acyclic DPV1 messaging for parameter access, alarm reading and asset diagnosis. It is equipped with an RS485 PROFIBUS interface supporting communication speed up to 12 Mbps, plus an independent 10/100Mbps RJ45 Ethernet port dedicated for remote diagnosis, web monitoring and FDT/DTM asset management. It is recognized as a standard I/O module by the CompactLogix backplane, and users can configure data mapping and bus parameters directly in Studio 5000 or RSLogix 5000 with the official add-on profile. Rotary switches on the front panel are used to set the PROFIBUS slave station address conveniently.

This module is installed directly into the standard 1769 CompactLogix chassis and draws 570mA at 5VDC from the backplane. It supports hot-swappable operation for on-site maintenance without shutting down the whole rack. Front LED indicators display backplane communication status, PROFIBUS bus activity, Ethernet link and module fault status, which helps technicians quickly locate communication faults during commissioning and maintenance. It supports GSD file import for easy integration into PROFIBUS master configuration software. It provides comprehensive diagnostic functions including bus error statistics, cyclic data status and acyclic message logs. It has reliable EMC protection against electrostatic discharge, surge and burst interference, with an operating temperature range of 0°C to 60°C, adapting to factory and process control environments. It also supports optional SD card for configuration backup and fast restoration.

This in-chassis PROFIBUS slave module is widely used in cross-brand PLC interconnection, packaging lines, material handling systems, water treatment, oil and gas auxiliary control and automation system upgrade projects. It enables CompactLogix controllers to join existing PROFIBUS DP networks without adding extra standalone gateway hardware, simplifying cabinet layout and wiring. As a discontinued legacy communication module, the ILX69-PBS is mainly supplied as spare replacement parts for running automation systems. It maintains stable cyclic and acyclic PROFIBUS communication, preserves the original fieldbus network architecture and reduces the transformation cost of multi-brand control system integration.
