Product Details
The ProSoft ILX56-MM is an in-chassis message manager module designed for Rockwell ControlLogix 1756 rack, which enables cross-protocol message communication between multiple different PLC and control systems. It acts as a smart message router, supporting data exchange between ControlLogix, CompactLogix, PLC-5, SLC, MicroLogix, Siemens S7, Schneider Quantum and other Modbus TCP devices. Unlike fixed cyclic data mapping modules, this module works on message request mode, which can send read and write commands on demand to access tags and registers of heterogeneous controllers. It is equipped with dual Ethernet ports, which can be divided into control network and device network for network isolation, and supports standard TCP/IP communication for multi-brand controller interconnection. It communicates with the ControlLogix processor through the backplane, and uses add-on instructions in Studio 5000 or RSLogix 5000 to configure message trigger, timeout and retry logic.
This module is directly installed in the 1756 ControlLogix chassis and powered by the backplane. It supports hot-swappable operation for convenient maintenance without shutting down the whole rack. Front LED indicators display backplane status, Ethernet link status and module fault status for quick on-site troubleshooting. Users can configure message tables, target device addresses and communication parameters through ProSoft Configuration Builder software. It provides complete diagnostic functions including message success counters, error codes and real-time communication status viewing. It adopts industrial-grade circuit design with EMC surge and electrostatic protection, with an operating temperature range of 0°C to 55°C for stable long-term operation in factory and process control environments. It supports firmware upgrade over Ethernet and configuration file backup for rapid deployment of multiple stations.
This multi-controller message manager module is widely used in factory interconnection, process control system integration, production line data exchange, and cross-brand PLC communication transformation projects. It simplifies the interconnection architecture between different brand control systems and avoids deploying multiple independent protocol gateways. As a discontinued legacy communication module, the ILX56-MM is mainly supplied as spare replacement parts for running automation systems. It maintains reliable on-demand message transmission between heterogeneous controllers, keeps the original control program logic unchanged, and reduces the transformation workload of multi-system interconnection.
