Product Details
The ProSoft ILX34-MBS485 is a Modbus serial communication module designed for Allen‑Bradley 1734 POINT I/O racks and CompactLogix L1 series controllers. It provides RS485 Modbus RTU connectivity, and users can configure it as either Modbus master or Modbus slave to realize bidirectional data exchange between the Logix control system and Modbus field devices. It connects to the POINTBus backplane, and can exchange analog values, discrete status, register data and alarm information with Modbus instruments such as transmitters, inverters, power meters and flow meters. The module supports standard Modbus function codes, flexible baud rate settings ranging from 110 to 38400 baud, and configurable parity, data bits and stop bits to match different field device requirements. It works with Studio 5000 and RSLogix 5000 through add-on profiles and add-on instructions, and diagnostic tags can be directly viewed in the controller tag database for convenient status monitoring.
This module is installed on a standard 1734 terminal base and powered by the POINTBus backplane. It draws 75mA current at 5VDC from the backplane, and supports a supply voltage range of 10VDC to 28.8VDC. It is equipped with LED indicators for power, POINTBus communication, serial transmit, serial receive and fault alarm, which help technicians quickly judge communication status and troubleshoot bus faults during commissioning and maintenance. It supports ESD and surge protection for industrial field environments, with an operating temperature range of 0°C to 55°C. It also supports remote firmware upgrade and offline configuration backup, which reduces maintenance workload for distributed I/O sites. It can be used in multi-drop RS485 bus networks, allowing multiple Modbus slave devices to share one serial line.
This POINT I/O Modbus module is widely used in water treatment, packaging machinery, energy monitoring, material handling and factory automation retrofit projects. It adds Modbus serial interface directly to the POINT I/O system without extra independent gateway hardware, simplifying cabinet layout and wiring. As a discontinued legacy communication module, the ILX34-MBS485 is mainly supplied as spare replacement parts for running Rockwell automation systems. It maintains stable Modbus RTU data transmission, keeps the original POINT I/O and CompactLogix control architecture, and reduces system transformation cost.
