The ProSoft CLX-APACS is an in-chassis communication module designed for ControlLogix rack, which realizes bidirectional data exchange between Rockwell ControlLogix/PlantPAx controllers and legacy Moore APACS IOBUS I/O system. It acts as a dedicated APACS IOBUS scanner, enabling the modern Logix controller to read analog input, discrete input, counter values and send analog output, discrete output commands to existing APACS field I/O blocks without replacing the original field wiring and I/O hardware. This module installs directly into the ControlLogix 1756 chassis and communicates via the ControlLogix backplane. It supports dual redundant APACS IOBUS A and B channels for high-reliability process control, and supports standard APACS I/O data types, fault status and diagnostic information collection. It is equipped with status LED indicators for backplane communication, IOBUS link and module health, helping engineers quickly identify bus failures and module abnormal status.

This module follows the standard ControlLogix chassis installation specification and gets power from the chassis backplane. It supports hot insertion and removal under power for convenient maintenance without shutting down the whole rack. Configuration, data mapping, bus parameter setting and diagnostic monitoring are completed through RSLogix 5000 or Studio 5000 with matching add-on profile. It provides comprehensive diagnostic functions including bus error statistics, I/O channel fault reporting and real-time data monitoring. It is built for process industry environments with strong EMC protection, with an operating temperature range of 0°C to 55°C for stable continuous long-term operation.

This in-chassis migration module is widely used in chemical plant, refining, power plant and water treatment DCS upgrade projects for Moore APACS system. It supports phased system migration, allowing users to gradually replace old APACS controllers with Rockwell PlantPAx while retaining the existing APACS I/O network and field wiring. As a discontinued legacy module, the CLX-APACS is mainly supplied as spare replacement parts for running DCS systems. It maintains reliable cyclic IOBUS data transmission, preserves the original field control infrastructure and greatly reduces renovation downtime and engineering cost.
