The ProSoft 5301-MBP-ASCII is a standalone ProLinx protocol gateway designed for legacy Schneider automation system integration, which realizes bidirectional data conversion between Modbus Plus and generic ASCII serial communication. It serves as a communication bridge, allowing Modbus Plus controllers and PLC systems to exchange custom string data with ASCII serial instruments, weighing terminals, barcode readers, printers and other non-standard serial field devices. The gateway is equipped with one 9-pin D-SUB Modbus Plus interface and one configurable serial port supporting RS232, RS422 and RS485 physical signals. Users can freely set frame delimiters, polling commands, baud rate and data parsing rules to match different ASCII device communication formats, and map serial data into the Modbus Plus register database for host access.

This gateway adopts DIN rail mounting for installation inside control cabinets. It is powered by 24 VDC industrial power supply and has front-panel LED indicators for power, Modbus Plus activity, serial transmit, receive and fault status, which helps technicians quickly locate communication faults during commissioning and maintenance. All data mapping, serial parameters, timeout values and diagnostic functions are configured via ProSoft Configuration Builder software. It supports independent channel diagnosis, frame error statistics and real-time data monitoring. It has stable EMC performance to resist electromagnetic interference in factory environments, with an operating temperature range of 0°C to 55°C for continuous long-term operation.

This protocol gateway is widely used in manufacturing automation, packaging lines, weighing control systems, legacy Modbus Plus system renovation and spare replacement projects. It enables Schneider Modbus Plus PLCs to communicate with ASCII serial devices without custom programming or replacing existing field instruments.
