The ProSoft 5228-DFNT-HART is a standalone ProLinx protocol gateway built for process automation, delivering bidirectional data conversion between EtherNet/IP and HART protocol. It acts as a communication bridge that allows Rockwell EtherNet/IP controllers to interact with HART smart field transmitters, including pressure, temperature, level and flow instruments. The gateway supports HART multidrop mode, enabling multiple HART devices to share one communication loop. It reads primary variables, secondary variables, device status, diagnostic alarms and configuration information from HART transmitters, and supports sending calibration and configuration commands from the EtherNet/IP host to field instruments. It is equipped with one 10/100Base-TX Ethernet port for EtherNet/IP communication and a HART analog loop interface with built-in loop power supply support.

This gateway adopts DIN rail mounting for installation inside control cabinets. It is powered by 24 VDC industrial power supply and fitted with front-panel LED indicators for power, Ethernet link, HART communication and fault status, which helps technicians quickly locate communication faults during commissioning and maintenance. Users can configure device addresses, variable mapping, polling schedules and diagnostic parameters through ProSoft Configuration Builder software. It provides comprehensive diagnostic tools to monitor loop quality, communication error codes and real-time process values. It has excellent EMC performance to adapt to harsh electromagnetic interference environments in chemical plants, oil and gas sites, and water treatment facilities, with an operating temperature range of 0°C to 55°C for stable continuous long-term operation.

This HART interface gateway is widely used in process control systems, petrochemical monitoring, water and wastewater treatment, energy plant control and legacy field instrument upgrade projects. It integrates HART smart transmitters into EtherNet/IP control systems without replacing existing field devices or hardwiring new signal cables. As a discontinued legacy communication gateway, the 5228-DFNT-HART is mainly supplied as spare replacement parts for running automation systems. It maintains stable HART multidrop communication, preserves the original control architecture and reduces the overall investment of system reconstruction.
