The ProSoft 5202-DFNT-GRCM4 is a multi-port standalone ProLinx protocol gateway developed for industrial automation serial integration. It provides bidirectional data conversion between EtherNet/IP and generic serial communication, acting as a bridge for Rockwell EtherNet/IP controllers to interact with different serial field devices. The gateway comes with one 10/100Base-TX Ethernet port for EtherNet/IP communication and four independent configurable serial ports. Each serial port supports RS232, RS422 and RS485 interfaces, and users can customize command frames, delimiters, polling sequences and data parsing rules to match various third-party serial instruments. It supports flexible data mapping between EtherNet/IP tags and serial register data to realize real-time data reading and control output.

This gateway adopts DIN rail mounting for installation inside control cabinets. It runs on 24 VDC industrial power supply and is equipped with front LED indicators for power, Ethernet link, serial transmit, receive and fault status. These indicators help engineers quickly judge communication status and troubleshoot field faults during commissioning and maintenance. All point mapping, baud rate, timeout, frame format and diagnostic parameters are configured in ProSoft Configuration Builder software. Independent channel diagnosis is available for each of the four serial ports, supporting frame error counting and real-time data monitoring. It has good EMC performance against industrial electromagnetic interference, with an operating temperature range of 0°C to 55°C for long-term stable operation.

This multi-port serial gateway is widely applied in packaging lines, weighing systems, barcode reading stations, environmental monitoring and old serial device renovation projects. It allows one EtherNet/IP PLC to connect four different serial devices at the same time, avoiding the need to deploy multiple single-port gateways. As a discontinued legacy communication gateway, the 5202-DFNT-GRCM4 is mainly offered as spare replacement parts for existing automation systems. It keeps stable cross-protocol data transmission, retains the original control logic and effectively cuts down system upgrade costs.
