The ProSoft 5201-MNET-ASCII is a standalone ProLinx protocol gateway designed for industrial automation data conversion, which realizes bidirectional data exchange between Modbus TCP network and generic ASCII serial devices. It acts as a communication bridge, allowing Modbus TCP controllers, PLCs and HMI systems to exchange custom string data with serial instruments, weighing indicators, barcode scanners, printers and sensors that only support ASCII protocol. This gateway is equipped with one 10/100Base-TX Ethernet port supporting Modbus TCP client and server connections, and one configurable serial port that supports RS232, RS422 and RS485 signal levels. Users can customize frame delimiters, polling commands, string formatting rules and register mapping relations to adapt to different ASCII device communication protocols.

This gateway adopts DIN rail mounting for installation inside control cabinets. It is powered by 24 VDC industrial power supply and has front-panel LED indicators for power, Ethernet link, serial transmit, receive and fault status, which helps technicians quickly locate communication faults during commissioning and maintenance. All data mapping, baud rate, timeout parameters and diagnostic settings are configured through ProSoft Configuration Builder software. It provides complete diagnostic functions to monitor network link status, serial frame error and real-time data transmission. It has reliable EMC performance to resist electromagnetic interference in factory environments, with an operating temperature range of 0°C to 55°C for stable continuous operation.

This protocol gateway is widely used in packaging production lines, weighing control systems, material handling equipment, food and beverage automation and legacy serial device transformation projects. It enables Modbus TCP control systems to read and write ASCII serial devices without custom programming or replacing existing field instruments.
