The ProSoft 5201-MNET-101S is a standalone ProLinx protocol gateway built for power automation and substation telecontrol systems, which provides bidirectional data conversion between Modbus TCP and IEC 60870-5-101 Slave protocols. It serves as a communication bridge that collects data from Modbus TCP PLCs, meters and field instruments, then transmits telemetry, binary status, counter values and alarm events to the upper IEC 101 master SCADA host through serial interface. It is equipped with one 10/100Base-TX Ethernet port supporting Modbus TCP client and server connections, and one configurable serial port for IEC 101 slave communication, compatible with RS232, RS422 and RS485 physical standards. It supports standard IEC 101 balanced and unbalanced transmission modes, time-stamped event reporting and flexible data mapping between Modbus registers and IEC 101 ASDU objects.

This gateway adopts DIN rail mounting for installation inside control cabinets. It is powered by 24 VDC industrial power supply and fitted with front-panel LED indicators for power, Ethernet link, serial transmit, receive and fault status, which helps technicians quickly locate communication faults during commissioning and maintenance. Users can configure data mapping tables, polling cycles, communication parameters and diagnostic items via ProSoft Configuration Builder software. It supports comprehensive link diagnosis, frame error statistics and real-time data monitoring. It has robust EMC performance to resist strong electromagnetic interference in substation environments, with an operating temperature range of 0°C to 55°C for stable continuous long-term operation.

This protocol gateway is widely used in power substation automation, energy management, water plant SCADA, oil and gas remote monitoring, and legacy power telecontrol system renovation projects. It allows Modbus TCP field devices to be seamlessly integrated into traditional IEC 101 serial telecontrol networks without modifying the original SCADA program or replacing field hardware. As a discontinued legacy communication gateway, the 5201-MNET-101S is mainly supplied as spare replacement parts for running automation systems.
