The ProSoft 3170-PDP is a PROFIBUS DP slave adapter module developed for Rockwell FLEX I/O and Integra I/O stations, serving as a fieldbus communication bridge to connect local FLEX I/O racks with PROFIBUS DP master controllers. It can support up to 8 FLEX or Integra I/O modules, including analog input, analog output, digital input and digital output modules. The module collects I/O data from the backplane and exchanges cyclic process data with the PROFIBUS master through the RS-485 PROFIBUS interface, realizing seamless data transmission between the FLEX I/O system and third-party PROFIBUS control equipment. It follows standard PROFIBUS DP protocol, supports high-speed cyclic data exchange and GSD file configuration for easy integration into mainstream PROFIBUS automation networks.

This module adopts a 9-pin D-SUB PROFIBUS connector, with dedicated status LED indicators for power, network activity and fault diagnosis, which helps engineers quickly locate communication failures on site. It is powered by 24 VDC, with an operating voltage range of 19.2 VDC to 31.2 VDC, and supplies backplane power for the connected I/O modules. It holds UL Class I Division 2 certification, suitable for deployment in hazardous industrial areas. The node address can be set via push buttons on the front panel, and the operating temperature range is 0°C to 55°C. It can be mounted on standard DIN rail for flexible installation in control cabinets.

This fieldbus adapter is widely used in factory automation upgrading, process control systems, water treatment, oil and gas auxiliary control, and production line reconstruction projects. It allows users to reuse existing Rockwell FLEX I/O hardware and connect it to PROFIBUS-based PLC and SCADA systems without replacing the whole I/O rack. As a discontinued legacy communication module, the 3170-PDP is mainly supplied as spare replacement parts for stable-running automation systems. It maintains reliable PROFIBUS DP communication performance, keeps the original control program unchanged and reduces the renovation cost of the whole automation platform.
