Product Details
The ProSoft 3170-MBS is a Modbus slave interface module designed for Rockwell FLEX I/O and Integra I/O systems, acting as a communication bridge between local FLEX I/O modules and Modbus master devices over RS-485 serial bus. This module can support up to 8 pieces of FLEX or Integra I/O modules, including analog input, analog output, digital input and digital output modules, converting I/O point data into standard Modbus register data for access by Modbus master controllers, HMI or SCADA systems. It supports Modbus RTU and ASCII protocols, with CRC-16 and LRC error checking mechanisms, and supports common Modbus function codes for coil and register read-write operations.
It is equipped with an RS-485 screw terminal communication port and multiple status LED indicators, including power indicator, transmit, receive and fault alarm lights, which help technicians quickly judge communication status and troubleshoot field faults. The module operates on 24 VDC power supply within 19.2 VDC to 31.2 VDC range, with maximum power consumption of 8.6 W, and provides 640 mA backplane current at 5V for connected I/O modules. It carries UL Class I Division 2 certification, suitable for hazardous industrial locations. The operating temperature range is 0°C to 55°C, and storage temperature ranges from -40°C to 85°C.
This communication module is widely applied in factory automation, process monitoring, water treatment, oil and gas auxiliary control, and retrofitting of legacy Rockwell FLEX I/O stations. It enables seamless integration of existing FLEX I/O with third-party Modbus control systems without replacing the whole I/O rack. As a discontinued legacy ProSoft communication hardware, the 3170-MBS is mainly supplied as spare replacement parts for running automation systems. It can maintain stable serial communication, preserve original control logic and reduce the cost of system upgrading and reconstruction.
