The BENTLY NEVADA 3500/72M four-channel reciprocating rod position monitor module is a full-height plug-in card for Bently Nevada 3500 TSI machinery protection system, specially designed for piston rod monitoring of reciprocating compressors. It receives and processes signals from eddy current proximity probes, and supports channel pair configuration via rack configuration software. Channels 1&2 and channels 3&4 can be set independently to complete different measurement tasks, including piston rod position, rod drop and hyper-compressor monitoring. The module can track static and dynamic displacement changes of the piston rod in real time, continuously monitoring packing wear and rod deflection which are typical failure modes of reciprocating compressors. Users can set independent Alert and Danger alarm thresholds for each measurement channel. When the monitored piston rod displacement exceeds preset limit values, the module will send alarm and trip signals to rack relay modules, triggering local alarm indication or safety shutdown action to prevent severe equipment damage caused by packing failure and rod fracture. It can export waveform data to System 1 software through TDI module, helping maintenance engineers analyze rod movement and carry out equipment predictive maintenance. Multiple rear I/O termination boards are available for selection, including standard internal termination and intrinsically safe barrier versions, which can adapt to ordinary industrial environments and hazardous explosive areas. Front panel LED indicators clearly display module OK operating status, backplane communication state and channel bypass state for convenient on-site inspection. The module supports hot swapping during normal rack operation, and hardware replacement will not interrupt the machinery protection safety logic. Built-in continuous self-diagnosis function automatically detects sensor open circuit, short circuit and internal hardware faults, and uploads fault information to the rack system in real time. It complies with API 618 standard for reciprocating compressors and SIL2 safety certification, widely applied in petrochemical industries, matched with large reciprocating compressors, providing reliable piston rod position and rod drop online monitoring and safety protection.
